Sandy Neck Beach Status




 


Off Road Vehicle

The ORV beach is open to 0.5 miles. Space will be limited. Day trip ORV vehicles must park perpendicular, 18 feet apart. No campfires, no pull behind trailers and curfew is 9pm. Please limit your group to 10 or less people. The Gatehouse will remain closed (all permits must be purchased via the mail).




Camp Fires

In accordance with state and federal guidelines for public gatherings, evening campfires are not permitted at Sandy Neck Beach at this time.

Fishing and Shellfishing

Horseback Riding

The ORV corridor is open to 0.5 miles. Horses are allowed on the front beach to the closure line only.

Cottage Owners

The ORV Beach is open to 0.5 miles. This means TRAIL 1 IS OPEN for Cottage Owner access. Trail 2, trail 4, trail 5, and trail 6 are CLOSED.

The speed limit on the Trail 1 and Marsh Trail is 5 MPH, strictly enforced. Please watch out for turtles on the Marsh Trail.

The escort schedule is as follows (you must call the gatehouse to make a reservation):

8:15AM (on) * 9:00AM (off)
10:30AM (on) * 11:00AM (off)
12:30PM (on) * 1:00PM (off)
3:30PM (on) * 4:00PM (off)
6:00PM (on) * 6:30PM (off)

In addition, we will continue to provide escorts upon request as long at said escorts are arranged in advance by prior reservation.

• Remember we cannot escort after dusk.
• We will need a 24 hour advanced notice if you need an escort during the morning hours before 8:00 AM.
• Supervisors are only available to schedule escorts between 8AM and 8PM.
• Please meet the ranger (for an escort off the beach) at the closure rope at the Connector Trail and Trail 6 intersection.
• Do not drive past the rope even if it is down.

Fat Tire Bikes

The ORV corridor is open to 0.5 miles. Bikes are allowed on the front beach to the closure line (at 1 mile) as well as Trail 1 and the Marsh Trail.

No riding on the dunes or cottage colony.
